Finding the Way Home

This book is about using the Enneagram for spiritual transformation, moving from the passions of the ego to the virtues of our true self. Most of the specific things said in this book about the types are also applicable in a general sense. What's for example said about the superego in the section on 1's, and about fear and anxiety in the section about 6's are useful to know for anyone of all types. Sandra Maitri is a Diamond Heart teacher, so her books are related to those by A.H. Almaas.

Character and Neurosis, by Claudio Naranjo
An Integrative View

A discussion of the basic principles of the Enneagram by one of it's early founders, psychoanalyst, Claudio Naranjo. Detailed type descriptions from a psychoanalytic point of view, focusing on the pathological manifestations of the various fixations.

Facets of Unity, by A.H. Almaas
The Enneagram of Holy Ideas

A spiritual perspective on the enneagram types. Where the types come from, as a result of the loss of Basic Trust. A difficult read, but the best book if you want to know the spiritual and unconscious details. With a preface by Oscar Ichazo, who brought the enneagram system into the world.
